ICC ODI Rankings 2023: Shubman Gill Claims Top Batting Spot, Mohammed Siraj Leads Bowling Charts

ICC ODI Rankings 2023

In a significant shake-up in the cricketing world, India’s opener Shubman Gill and fast bowler Mohammed Siraj have risen to the top of the ICC ODI rankings in batting and bowling, respectively.

Gill’s Remarkable Ascent

Shubman Gill’s incredible performances during India’s ongoing World Cup campaign have propelled him to the top of the batting rankings, surpassing Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam. This achievement makes Gill only the fourth Indian player to hold the prestigious No. 1 ODI batting ranking, joining the elite company of cricket legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, and Virat Kohli.

Gill’s standout contributions include scores of 92 against Sri Lanka and 23 against South Africa in the past week. He has accumulated a total of 219 runs from six innings in the current tournament. As a result, Babar Azam, who had held the No. 1 spot for over two years, has slipped to the second position.
